A League Of Her Own

There’s no crying in Baseball! - A League of Their Own

This shoot was so much fun for me! The idea wasn’t anything truly special, I really just wanted to get out and do a shoot, and I was thinking about the color red because in recent years, it has kind of turned into one of my favorite colors. How could it not? Red is sexy, it’s vibrant, and it’s bold. It screams, “Hey, look at me!” So of course, I was thinking okay, I want to do something with a red corset.

For whatever reason, because I am by no means a sporty person, I thought baseball. And then the movie, A League of Their Own, popped into my head. So I texted my good friend Evelyn, asking her if she would be interested in modeling this concept for me. She of course said yes, even after I told her I wanted to do it at the crack of dawn, because everybody knows that that early morning light is beautiful.

I was ecstatic when she said yes, and I got to work right away putting together a mood board for us to base our shots off of. I ordered everything she is wearing from Amazon, because Jeff Bezos obviously needs my money, and got to work. I sent her some ideas for hair and makeup, and she pulled through with the PERFECT look.

Danny had a couple girls from Hawken doing their Senior Projects with him, so Lily, his mentee, tagged along the day of the shoot. I met up with her at his photography studio at six-thirty in the morning before heading to pick Evelyn up.

Lucky for us, there are plenty of baseball fields to choose from in Bay Village, and we picked the one near her house at Reese Park because of the tree-line in the background. She got changed, and we got to work immediately.

During the shoot, Lily had even brought up the movie, and I was ecstatic because I knew I wanted to title the shoot “A League of Her Own,” and it made me so happy that she had seen the movie, because not a lot of youngsters have seen it.

Once we were done, I drove both of them back, and got to work editing the photos the same day, which is crazy because I spent about five hours editing the gallery, and Evelyn LOVED them, which is always rewarding to know your clients love the work you produce.
